The Hindu Fridays
2024 · I ran every event end to end, with The Hindu team. The first was made with StoriCulture.
Made for
The Hindu's subscribers, and the Carnatic music audience.
What it proved
The goal was to give the Carnatic music audience an immersive experience. As a pilot, it proved that curated, immersive offline events engage subscribers.

My boss asked if I was into music, and then whether I could run this: events where music lovers are part of the experience and not spectators. I said yes without hesitating: I'd been going to metal gigs in Chennai looking for exactly that. At the first one, 50 invited guests, The Hindu's subscribers among them, picked a topic and suggested words; Madhan Karky made a poem from them and Sikkil Gurucharan made a song, on the spot. Sikkil's Gopuccha Yati and Srotovaha Yati reminded me of metric modulation, a technique commonly used by metal legends like Dream Theater and Meshuggah. The Hindu Fridays ran for about a year and a half and put on three events. There are no events now, and the playlist is still up.
